Wedding Photography at Dewsall Court, Herefordshire

Dewsall Court is an idyllic wedding and events venue, located south of Hereford, steeped in history and character. As it offers accommodation, superb catering facilities and an on-site chapel it is a fantastic one-stop option as a wedding venue.

Having photographed weddings here I can highly recommend it as an option which offers plenty of grandeur but with an intimate, homely feel. If you are considering Dewsall Court as your wedding venue, I’ve listed some of my favourite features, as viewed through the eyes of a photographer…

Main House Facade

The main house sits high up in the grounds, giving it a grand, imposing feel; a property of some note when completed in 1644 by Richard Pearle, Dewsall Court was the birthplace of the first Duke of Chandos and thought to have housed painting from the National Gallery for protection during the Second World War.

Rooms and Bridal Suite

The Bridal Suite and guest rooms are located in the main house, set over three floors; giving plenty of separation so that bride and groom don’t bump into each other on the morning of the wedding! The en suite rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious. There’s even a full sized snooker table on one of the landings which serves as a great distraction against wedding morning nerves!

Staircase

The grand wooden staircase gives a lovely focus for shots of the bride as she leaves her room and makes her way to the ceremony venue.

Chapel

Dewsall Court has an on-site chapel although ceremony’s can also be conducted in the study of the main house or in marques on the venue grounds. The chapel will accommodate up to around 80 guests and has a beautiful, intimate feel even for smaller sized weddings.

Reception Hall

Backed by a large open fire - and including a piano - the hall of the main house is a great room for serving reception drinks and canapés, especially if the weather isn’t playing ball. The main doors open out to the front lawn with great views across the grounds.

Wainhouse Barn

The wedding breakfast and evening reception takes place in beautifully renovated Wainhouse Barn. This rustic space features a full height ceiling, replete with timber roof trusses, a dining hall, dance floor and full bar. One wall of the Wainhouse is fully glazed giving a lovely view to the outside firepits and braziers which are lit after dark.

Grounds

One of Dewsall Court's stand-out features are the stunning gardens and grounds. Amongst the beautiful topiary, lawns and orchards is a peaceful lake; a great spot for a quiet moment or a charming photoshoot with your photographer.
